The boy was charged the day after the bashing in November, but on Friday morning a video of the alleged assault was posted on a social media platform, which The Age has decided not to reveal, and which claims links to the global hacking group.

The group, declaring it would take action against so-called "one-punch killings", posted the video, along with the boy's name, home address, social media accounts and phone number. The details of his mother, including her social media accounts, address, mobile phone number, and place of employment, and the names and a photo of his grandparents, were also posted.

The boy, or his location, cannot be identified because he is facing charges in the Children's Court.

His mother said she had been bombarded with phone calls, including threats to burn down her house, in the hours since the video was posted. She reported the threats to police, and was recording phone conversations.

"I'm not saying that what he did was right, but it's before court, he's been charged months ago, and it's not fair to be putting online all this information about his family.

"We haven't done anything wrong."

The hackers claim the assault was recent, and that the victim was bashed because he owed the boy $50. The boy claimed in a series of online posts that he had other grievances, rather than a $50 debt, that had been the motivation for the assault.

The 18-year-old victim does not fight back during the 20-second onslaught, which the hackers claimed resulted in broken ribs. The victim is punched to the head and body before being punched and kicked when he falls to the ground.

The post describes the attack as unpleasant and graphically describes the sound made by the teenager's ribs breaking.

It calls the attacker a "tough guy" before extensively listing his personal details. The post then threatens all who perpetrate similar violent attacks and "one punch killings" with having their identity revealed, saying there will be no forgiveness for such acts.

The hackers describe the attacker as scum and say that the attack could have resulted in the death of the victim.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed the boy had been charged with two assaults, on November 22 and 23 last year. He was charged with recklessly cause serious injury, intentionally cause injury, two counts of recklessly cause injury, assault by kicking and assault in company.

The second alleged assault, which is the bashing depicted on the video, resulted in the victim being airlifted to The Alfred.

The video was viewed more than 20,000 times and attracted hundreds of shares and comments five hours after it was posted.

Most commenters embraced the vigilantism urged by the group, describing the attacker as a "punk" "little b-tch" and "piece of sh-t". Other posters said it was unnecessary to endanger the safety of his family by posting their details.
