Aislinn A’Speculo, Conor Delahunty, Tash Whiteside, Amy Rix and cox Millie Nye were in fine form as they claimed both the female under-21 coxed four and school coxed four open division finals.
The crew, which was only finalised on Wednesday, flew past Melbourne University in the under-21 final to claim victory, and surged away from Ballarat High in the school final later in the day.
Although St. Patrick’s College experienced a quiet day overall, it did manage to claim the male C grade coxed four final.
The school’s thirds crew, which consisted of Josh Scoleri, Ben Hutt, Lachlan Ross, Mitch Toohey and cox Ethan Lawler, proved too good for second-placed Wendouree Ballarat.
Ballarat City was by far the most successful of the clubs, taking out a whopping eight events.
Michael Doust was victorious in three of them, including the male D grade single scull, the D grade double scull (with Haydn Swan) and the D grade coxed four scull, which he won with Swan, Andrew Leehane, Jamie McDonald and cox Owen Leehane.
The club also claimed the male D and C grade coxed four finals, as well as the female C grade coxed four and eight events.
Andrew Leehane took out the mixed double scull race, partnering with Wendouree Ballarat’s Leanne Martin.
