The Delacombe primary school pupils raised the funds for Caritas Australia’s appeal, Project Compassion, through an annual walkathon.
Deputy principal Julie Orr said the school lived by its name, which meant ‘light of Christ’.
“Raising money for Caritas Australia and Project Compassion is just one way that the school community works towards being true to their name and actively working towards a better life for all in our world,” Ms Orr said.
“The children’s efforts raised more than $3000 from the walkathon and all money will now go directly to Project Compassion
“Project Compassion funds projects which enable some of the poorest and neediest communities in our world to work towards change.”
Project Compassion runs through the six weeks of Lent – the lead-up to Easter – each year. In 2015, $11.57 million was raised to help the world's poorest communities.
