For the second time this season the Reds were without a dedicated gloveman, with goalkeeper Aaron Romein unable to make the journey to Shepparton due to his partner’s pregnancy. Attacking midfielder Michael Trigger again took to the goals, while Josh Romein provided support in the second half, making a crucial save to deny the Suns a point just after the Reds had scored.
The win leaves the Red Devils in fifth on the ladder after 10 rounds, with just three points separating the top five sides. Reds coach James Robinson said he was impressed by the composure of his side in what was their fourth win on the trot.
“We’ve conceded one goal in the last four games and we knew we were always going to create chances,” Robinson said. “We knew Michael could do it (in goals) because he did a great job last time.”
