The man accused of murdering his elderly mother in her home has been ordered by a magistrate to provide DNA samples to police.

Socrates Tamvakis, 44, is understood to have refused to have provided a saliva sample to investigators following his arrest last week over the death of his 75-year-old mother, Violet Tamvakis, who was found dead in her Bentleigh home.
Mr Tamvakis is charged with murdering his mother either on Anzac Day or April 26.
He was arrested at a Bentleigh cafe on Friday when the cafe manager recognised the wanted man from a photograph and stalled him until police arrived.
Melbourne Magistrates Court heard on Monday police needed a hair strand and either a saliva or blood sample for analysis.
It is understood Mr Tamvakis previously refused a request.
When magistrate Johanna Metcalf ordered the accused man to provide the samples, he replied: "Understood, Ma'am."
Authorities can use reasonable force if he refuses again.
The court heard Mr Tamvakis was on medication for a psychological illness and needed a medical examination.
Dressed in court in a red and black polo shirt, Mr Tamvakis was remanded in custody to return to court on September 5.
