The former Essendon and Brisbane Lions forward has signed with the Cobras and will play out the remainder of the 2016 Ballarat Football League season in the red, yellow and black.
Cupido had been playing coach at Essendon and District Football League club Airport West, but had endured four straight losses to start the season.
It is not yet apparent if he quit Airport West or if he was sacked.
A clearance has been lodged and he is expected to suit up for Bacchus Marsh this weekend against Melton South.
Cobras president Adam Sutherland said coach Travis Hodgson had an existing relationship with Cupido, which helped seal the deal.
Sutherland said Cupido’s experience would complement the young and exciting list.
“We do lack some of that top end quality and when an opportunity came out of the blue we said we were were interested,” he said.
“He brings an air of experience and confidence that we don’t naturally have on the list.
“He's coming to be a fully fledged member of the club. He trains every night and he wants to play every game.”
The 34-year-old played 53 AFL matches between 2000 and 2005, booting 66 goals.
His best year came in 2003, when he booted 40 goals for the Bombers.
