The former Perth galloper claimed the time-honoured Goodwood Handicap, 1200m, at Morphettville to give Weir his sixth victory at the elite level this season.
Black Heart Bart started as a $2.80 favourite and beat home Robert Smerdon-trained Under The Louvre, with Supido third.
The win comes at just the five-year-old sprinter’s fourth start for Weir, with the focus now shifting to a run in the group 1 Stradbroke Handicap, 1400m, at Eagle Farm.
Meanwhile, reigning Melbourne Cup champion Prince of Penzance returned to the track in style on Saturday.
Running in an earlier race on the Morphettville card, the Weir-trained stayer produced a fast-finishing second to stablemate Tonopah.
It was the horse’s first run since the Cup win in November last year.
