Real life can be humdrum, so more than 20,000 people seized the chance to dress up as their favourite TV, comic book or games character – and meet some of them – at the fifth annual Oz Comic-Con expo.

The event, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday and Sunday, saw young and old seizing the chance to meet stars such as John Barrowman from Torchwood, Lucy Lawless from Xena: Warrior Princess, and Rose McIver from iZombie.
The celebrities hosted photograph and autograph sessions, and took part in question and answer panels.
Visitors could also meet top comic artists such as Nicola Scott, Mike Choi and Wolfgang Bylsma.
The event also hosted the finals of the Australian Championships of Cosplay.
The winner, Artemis Costuming, will represent Victoria at the national final in Brisbane in September.
