The Seriously Shiraz Festival next weekend at the Ballarat Mining Exchange will ensure anyone who attends cold will leave with a warm glow and rosy cheeks.
Opening Ballarat’s month-long Winterlude Festival, Seriously Shiraz will bring together under the one roof the finest winemakers from across the Grampians and Pyrenees grape-growing districts.
Winemaker Jess Robertson, from Mount Langi Ghiran Vineyard in the Grampians, said it had been a tough year for growing shiraz, but the resulting fruits had been splendid. “Sometimes what you find with lower yields is your berries are smaller and you get more flavour and better tannins. The berries are higher intensity,” she said.
The event runs June 25 from 1pm to 6pm and also includes food and a live DJ. Tickets are $25 pre-purchased or $30 on the door, which includes a souvenir wine glass that patrons can use for tastings. Online sales available at www.trybooking.com/LNAN
