Grammar powered past Loreto College in emphatic fashion to claim the BAS title for the third year running, taking home the trophy 10.13 (73) to 0.0 (0) on Thursday afternoon.
The outfit will now prepare to head to Geelong on July 21 where they will play in the semi-finals of the Heard Sun Shield. Should they be successful they will then play in the grand final to be held in Port Melbourne.
The school took out the coveted title in 2014, and were runners-up in 2014 after going down to Kew’s Methodist Ladies Colege at Docklands Stadium.
Grammar coach Matt Hanlon said he was confident his charges have what it takes to claim the most coveted title in Victorian schoolgirls football.
“The teams with the most depth have the best opportunity of winning and we had seven girls who could come back in,” Hanlon said.
The final between Loreto and Grammar marked 20th year of BAS girls football.
“Ballarat’s been a pioneer in terms of girls football, so it’s pretty cool the girls to see that BAS history,” Hanlon said.
