Schoolchildren in Melbourne's north-east have been warned to be cautious after a man offered ice creams to two students in Ivanhoe.

The incident happened outside Ivanhoe Primary School on Wednesday.
The children refused the ice creams and were unharmed.
Education Department spokesman Steve Tolley said both students were safe and well.
"Local schools have been informed and the principal has made the school community aware, asking them to be extra vigilant," he said.
"The department is working closely with the school and will continue to monitor the situation."
The students' parents contacted police and the school after the incident.
