Brand won the national level 8 Border Challenge in Queensland last Friday.
Turnham said it was a phenomenal effort and said Brand was one of the hardest working gymnasts at the centre.
Turnham said Brand’s improvement over the past 12 months had been rapid and felt the sky was the limit for the 13-year-old – declaring she was capable of making it to the Olympics in the future.
Brand travels to Ballarat Aquatics and Lifestyle Centre from Stawell to work closely with her coach Janet Howe.
Howe being the reason the rising star makes the three-hour round trip to train 16 hours a week. The pair have worked closely over the past two years with Friday’s Border Challenge triumph evidence of the bright future that lays ahead.
The next step for Brand will be representing the state at the Australian Championships next year.
