But when the monster escapes, all hell – and hilarity – breaks loose.
Ballarat Grammar School’s production of Young Frankenstein promises singing, dancing, belly laughs and some real odd ball comedy, courtesy of Hollywood legend Mel Brooks who wrote the screenplay.
Directed by Elena Sabellico and with musical direction by Andrew Dale, more than 100 students, musicians and backstage crew are involved in the production.
Young Frankenstein is played by Max Meaden while Ang Litras is Igor and Amelia Monk is Inga.
It will be performed at the Wendouree Centre for the Performing Arts on Thursday and Friday at 7pm and with a 1pm matinee and 7pm performance next Saturday.
