Students from a wide cross-section of the city’s secondary schools joined forces to write and produce The Courier’s annual youth magazine, SHOUT.
This was also a chance for students to gain an insight into the media industry and community partners Headspace, Leadership Ballarat and Western Region and Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative.
Damascus College student Matilda McKinnon said personally the magazine allowed her to pursue a topic she was passionate about, while learning so much from other SHOUT members and their perspectives.
Ms McKinnon spoke on behalf of the SHOUT team in a magazine launch at The Courier on Tuesday night.
The team worked with The Courier’s editorial and sales members on pulling their ideas together in a fun, red carpet-style theme. Their finished product is in Wednesday’s edition of The Courier and online at thecourier.com.au.
