The $350,000 project was originally designed as a signalised pedestrian crossing, but a conflicting set of beliefs from locals has led to a community consultation phase to decide if the section should be fully signalised or a zebra style crossing.
Elderly residents, vision impaired people and parents of school children have indicated their preference for a fully signalised crossing, while others have expressed concerns that permanent traffic lights could detract from the historic village character.
VicRoads conducted a series of consultation sessions on Sunday, with feedback still open.

A VicRoads spokesperson said time frames for construction will be determined when the crossing-type is decided, but did not give dates.
“The feedback we receive from the community will help inform our decision to ensure the safety needs of the town are best met,” the spokesperson said.
