Federation College’s P-Tech program began in Ballarat earlier this year with 20 year 9 students.
P-TECH Industry Liaison coordinator for Ballarat Sofia Fiusco said the program targeted students as they were starting to make decisions about their future career.
“The main benefit is they get is they’re informing and skilling the workforce of the future so it’s providing opportunities which create aspirational young people.”
The program showed young people the relevance of what they were studying in school, Ms Fiusco said.
“There’s a definitely a level of engagement that goes with what they’re seeing and that understanding too of Ballarat.
“We’re seeing lots of great local employers who are doing fantastic things who are showing them that there is a big world of work out there.”
