Hill was one of a host of players involved in a melee at the end of the first half, and was shown a yellow card and ordered off the field.
Confusion then reigned when Sunbury was found to be fielding 18 men at the beginning of the third term, forcing the Lions to forfeit three goals and two points which were scored in the opening moments of the second half.
Under AFL Victoria regulations, players shown a yellow card are required to spend 15 minutes on the bench in which their side is expected to play a man down. A club can then be stripped of their score for the quarter if found to be playing too many players.
The punishment meant little in the context of the match however, with Sunbury running home comfortable victors over the Devils.
