Don’t miss this acoustic trio, riding the swinging blues and rag train from the Macedon Ranges to parts unknown. Featuring King Maxwell on vocals and numerous stringed instruments, Alex Milla on double bass and Ian Matthews on harmonica.
King Maxwell’s repertoire spans old country blues through to the swinging styles of the 40s. Playing and singing for more than 30 years, he’s performed solo, in duos, trios and big bands.
Saturday, Gillian and Terry @ Old Hepburn Hotel
Playing acoustic versions of everyone’s favourite classics from the likes of Dragon, Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix, Cold Chisel, Amy Winehouse and more.
Terry left school at 15 to play guitar with Thunderclap Newman. He’s also worked and performed with Tom Jones, Randy Crawford, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimmy Barnes, Doug Mulray, Andrew Denton and others.
Gillian was named in the Australian Book of Rock and Roll as a top performer in the late 70s and early 80s with her band Gillian Eastoe and King Dog, featuring Phil Emmanuel on guitar. She’s also performed with many greats such as Tom Waits, Jimmy Barnes, Rose Tattoo, Air Supply, INXS and Jon English.
Sunday, Moodswing @ Horvat’s Supper Club
Moodswing’s repertoire spans early swing, jive and blues through to modern jazz. There’s a balance of vocal and instrumental swing, jazz and blues numbers, including a cover of Johnny Cash’s Folsom Blues captured in a swing jazz rhythm.
