A man accused of stabbing another man to death refused to call an ambulance for him, saying he was convinced that he would not die, a court has heard.

The man - who cannot be named for legal reasons - allegedly stabbed his victim in the face and neck in a Melbourne hotel room last year.
He appeared in the Supreme Court on Monday for the first day of his murder trial before Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth.
Prosecutor Fran Dalziel said that the victim had become enraged when he found his alleged attacker in his hotel room with a woman he was interested in, and was particularly angry with the mess in his room.
The pair had earlier used drugs together, had sex and ordered room service, the court heard.
Ms Dalziel said the defendant thought that the victim disliked him because he believed he had raped his friend. The defendant asked him how he could believe that and the pair began to fight.
The defendant, she said, punched his victim at least three times before the man began to defend himself.
The woman at the centre of the alleged love triangle at one stage jumped on the victim, hitting him with an open hand to try to get him off the accused man, she said.
"At some point (the accused) stabbed (the victim)...in the neck through the throat."
"It's that blow that caused the death of (the victim)," Ms Dalziel said.
She told the court in her opening address that after the alleged stabbing attack, the victim held a towel to his neck and choked as he tried to speak.

"F-- him, he's alright," the accused replied. "I know first aid and he's not going to die."
The woman used the victim's phone to call 000, and watched him close his eyes, believing he had died.
She fled the room on seeing the wound in his neck. The accused left the room at about the same time and later told two different friends that he thought he had killed someone, the court heard.
Defence counsel Peter Morrissey, SC, said the woman had not seen the knife go into the man's throat, and that the Crown could not prove that his client intended to kill the victim, or knew that his actions would cause serious injury.
