Clubs from Geelong, Bendigo, Mildura and Gippsland will take on local clubs from Ballarat including the Celtic Tigers, Phoenix and Saints across the under-12 to under-18 age groups. Despite the event clashing with the AFL grand final, tip-off will be at 9am on Saturday morning while grand finals will take place from 2pm on Sunday.
Basketball Victoria Country's events and community manager Sammy Cartwright said the event was all about developing the young players skills under the match-day pressure.
“This event focuses upon the great work done by local Clubs within associations, as it is local teams coming together to pit their skills against other like teams rather than a contest for representative teams," she said.
Clubs compete for the Max Bowman Shield awarded the most successful club across all age groups. Pivot City of Geelong are the defending champions.
