Ballarat DRU Detective Acting Sergeant Steve Oliver said a 44-year-old woman and 49-year-old woman had been charged with offences under the sex work act including living off the proceeds of prostitution.
Police shut down an illegal brothel in Skipton Street last month.
On Thursday, the Ballarat Magistrates Court declared the premises, which has been operating as “Silk Hands Massage”, a proscribed brothel from Tuesday.
Detective Acting Sergeant Oliver said anyone seen entering the address 901 Skipton Street without lawful purpose will have committed an offence and would be processed for attending a brothel.
The women will face Ballarat Magistrates Court in November.
