Biggin was previously a playing-coach at the club in 2004 and 2005 before taking his game to Waubra where he played and was involved on the coaching panel.

He will take charge of a youthful side, but was confident the playing list was capable of matching it some of the best sides in the competition and given a strong preseason and the appropriate education it could push up the Central Highlands Football League ladder. 

“There were a few games where they were really competitive for two, three quarters against good sides,” Biggin said.

“Against Buninyong they were one point down at half-time … hopefully we can increase that effort over four quarters, I think the players know when they put their best foot forward they can actually match it with those teams.”

Biggin said the club was looking to take a more professional outlook towards its training standards and commitment to football.

“We’ll be working with the committee about taking the club forward, becoming more professional in their approach on and off the field. Just trying to compete with some of the clubs that have increased the professionalism within the league.

This time around he will take the reins as a non-playing coach and feels that can provide a different perspective to his coaching having always coached and played in his previous roles.

“You probably don’t see as much because you’re concentrating on two aspects.

“I think to be able to sit back and just focus on the players should make it a bit easier and we should be able to get more out of it from a coaching point of view.”

In more positive news, former coach Brenton Powell has recommitted to the club.
