The 1838 property will become a setting for visitors to enjoy Pyrenees wines, local produce, live music, roving performers, historic tours of the estate, art displays and children’s activities.

The National Trust-listed stables and rose garden will become exhibition spaces, with artists Mary Van den Broek, Lucy McEachern, Julie Bennett and Margie Delahunty Spencer showcasing their work.

The homestead itself won’t be open to the public as it is a private residence, however the numerous outbuildings, kitchen and 10 acres of formal gardens will be accessible.

Mount Mitchell has an interesting history, including its association with architect Charles Webb, merino wool, the gold rush, famous explorers and prominent owners. Tours will be conducted regularly on both Saturday and Sunday.

A range of foods will be on offer including Luigi’s Gelato, Forge Pizza, Sweet Cake Love, the East Indian Trading Co, Steam Coffee Ballarat. In addition, a Devonshire tea arrangement will be set up in the Mt Mitchell cottage gardens.

The party will be held October 22 and 23 from 10am to 5pm. Adults $10, children $5, and children under five free.
