It is alleged three women were sexually assaulted on Sturt and Armstrong streets on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ballarat man has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and has been remanded to appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on November 14.
EARLIER: Ballarat Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating two sexual assaults that occurred in Ballarat on Wednesday afternoon.
In the first incident, a woman was walking along Sturt Street, near Armstrong Street, at about 3.40pm when a man approached the woman from behind, sexually assaulted her, and then fled south along Town Hall Lane.
About 10 minutes later, a woman was sexually assaulted near the toilets of a nearby shopping centre on Armstrong Street.
The male offender fled the shopping centre after the second incident.
Investigators believe the same offender was responsible for both incidents.
Police have released CCTV footage of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian, of slim build, with short dark hair.
He was wearing a white and black t-shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.
