Cool Chap has been installed at $6 fixed odds ahead of the Darren Weir-trained Lidair ($8) and Lady Le Fay ($9).
Prepared by Lee and Anthony Freedman at Flemington, Cool Chap has been a consistent performer through the spring without winning.
The four-year-old finished second in the Sale Cup, 1600m, three starts ago and then finished second to The Chairman over 1800m, at his home track on Oaks Day.
In his latest effort Cool Chap finished sixth in the Eclipse Stakes, 1800m, at Sandown on Saturday - little more than two lengths behind winner Turnitaround.
Cool Chap, which won the St Leger at Flemington and finished third in the SA Derby earlier this year, carried 54kg, with Turnitaround 58.5kg.
Cool Chap has the same weight in the Ballarat Cup, while Turnitaround goes up to 60kg.

JOCKEYS Luke Nolen and Regan Bayliss will each fulfill rides in the Ballarat Cup before starting suspensions at midnight on Saturday.
Each was suspended after pleading guilty to charges of careless riding at Sandown on Wednesday.
Nolen has the Cup ride on the John Sadler-trained Observational and Bayliss is on Pilote D’essai for David and Ben Hayes, and Tom Dabernig.
Bayliss is one of three apprentices with rides in the non-claiming Ballarat Cup, joining Michael Dee and Ben Allen.
