A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with a series of offences after allegedly injuring a police officer during an operation last week.

Detective Senior Constable Steven Murphy said the alleged offender was charged with reckless conduct endangering life, assault police, failure to stop vehicle on police direct, driving dangerous, driving while disqualified and theft and deception offences.
Police executed a large scale manhunt that spanned much of Redan as they searched for the 26-year-old. The man was arrested in Darling Street, Redan at 11.20am. Police searched a house at the address shortly after.
Ballarat Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Paul Jolly said the police helicopter had been called in during the manhunt. Police allege the man injured an officer, who received minor injuries, during the operation.
The accused, Thomas Smith, appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning and was remanded in custody to reappear in court on December 19.
