The bucks' party landed inside the track, with early racegoers clamouring to watch the celebrity-like arrival.
Their 16-strong party flew in four choppers from Crown Melbourne this morning.
Best man Rob Cummings organised the whole weekend extravaganza as a surprise so the party could relax, enjoy a country race meet and, he quipped, so the groom could not run away - at least not back to Melbourne.
Mr Butterworth was blown away and, while a little shy, relished the rock star entrance.
"It was pretty dramatic," Mr Butterworth told The Courier as the party walked across the track to their personal marquee.
"It was a surprise. I didn't know where we were going but now I'm really looking forward to a good country race day. Ballarat's a big country town and it's good to come up here and enjoy it.
"I really enjoyed the flight, we've got the perfect day for it."
Mr Butterworth gets married in two weeks time.
The bucks party will leave how they arrived, making their way back to Crown for the night.
