Adams, Jans lead way in Brackenbury MTB Challenge

Emerging rider Ryan Jans reigned supreme on the forest trails around Creswick in the Brackenbury Mountain Bike 25km Challenge on Sunday.

Jans clocked one hour, 15 minutes, 40.5 seconds in outclassing his rivals – finishing 7:55.4 clear of his nearest rival in a field of 56.

The Damascus College student and Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club member is part of a FedUni WestVic Academy of Sport MTB junior development squad program preparing for next year’s national series and a state series event next month.

Internationally experienced Rohin Adams took out the 50km event, which attracted 51 cyclists.

He covered the distance in 2:17:47.5 in what developed into a race in two. He finished 52.3 seconds ahead Dave Nairn, with another four minutes back to the chasing pack.
