BALLARAT specialist school students visited Alstom to enhance their knowledge of transport last week.
Students from studying transport toured the shop floor at the Ballarat based company.
“The students were happy to learn that such a significant manufacturing company was based here in Ballarat, employing locally and supporting our community,” classroom teacher Angela Eaton said.
“Mick Selby and all the staff at Alstom were incredibly supportive in allowing the students to access this unbelievable local facility, ensuring that they catered for diversity and inclusion.
“The student’s had the opportunity to tour a brand new train, see the manufacturing process and receive very generous gift bag.”
Alstom is a local train producer that secured a major contract to build five new X’Trapolis trains through a $105.2 million commitment in the 2015-16 budget.
The students were able to witness manufacturing and gain an insight how a manufacturing plant operates.
