But that’s the case for Newlyn couple Chris Dennis and Trish Kevin, who will open Maze House for the first time on December 17.
The couple originally bought the property along the Midland Highway in 1991, planting an intricate hedge maze in a paddock.
Mr Dennis said while the couple had always planned to eventually complete the maze, a combination of distractions and bad weather had forced the project onto the back-burner.
What now stands is a hedge maze standing 75 metres long and 28 metres wide. The maze contains more than 500 metres of hedge.
Maze House will also provide accommodation after opening, and the couple has plans to open the space up to events ranging from weddings though to public talks.
Maze House on the Midland Highway will be open on weekends and school holidays following Christmas.
