Ironman 70.3 Ballarat will be in action from early Sunday morning with traffic disruptions in the Lake Wendouree precinct also on the Saturday, which will feature the IronKids events.
Sturt Street will be closed from Pleasant Street North to Dyson Drive from 5.30am to 2pm on Sunday. Remembrance Drive will be shut to all traffic between Dyson Drive and the Western Highway from 6am to 12.30pm and the off-ramp shut 5am to 12.30pm.
There is a vehicle crossing along Remembrance Drive where it intersects with Windermere-Sulky Road and Madden Road.
These closures are to cater for the Ironman bike leg, in which athletes will complete two laps of a 45-kilometre course that takes in a loop through Victoria Park and turns around at the Western Highway in Windermere. The course will also take in a section of Gillies Street South between Winter and Sturt streets.
Bus routes may also be affected, in particular routes 15 (Sturt Street West) and 16 (Lake Gardens). Travellers are urged to check alternate routes.
Pro-male contenders will plunge into the 1.9-kilometre Lake Wendouree swim from near the Olympic Rings from 7.30am with the pro-female wave at 7.33am. Runners are expected to be on the Steve Moneghetti Track, for a three-lap course, between 9.30am and 3.50pm.
