An estimated 5000 people brought along their picnic rugs to enjoy the pleasant weather as choirs from various Ballarat churches took on classics such as Joy to the World, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells.
Event organiser Pam McKee said weather was always the major factor in the success of the event, and the organising committee could not have asked for a better night.
“We’ve done really well for the weather this year which makes a big difference.”
The event changed its name to the Ballarat Carols from the Eureka Carols in 2013, and has raised over $18,000 for the 3BA Christmas Appeal over the past 11 years.
Ms McKee said she anticipated the event would again be able to raise around $2500 for the initiative.
