A WOMAN charged with the stabbing murder of a man on Christmas Eve in Kangaroo Flat has appeared in a Bendigo court.
Elise Walker, 33, appeared by video link in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning where she did not apply for bail.
She has been charged with murdering Matthew Johnston.
Walker sat silently during the brief hearing, and only replied “Yes, I have” when asked if she had received legal advice.
She has been in custody for four days since her arrest on December 24.
The court heard Walker does not have any custody management issues.
Magistrate Peter Mithen said he was not in a position to consider bail.
“I will refuse bail given the nature of the charge alleged,” he said.
Police were called to a Pauline Court address at 6pm where a man was found with stab wounds.
He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene. Police interviewed Walker and charged her with murder on Christmas Day.
She was remanded in custody to appear in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on May 10.
