The driver of the maroon Ford Falcon left the scene of the accident before police arrived. The driver was a male in his 20’s with orange hair.
Senior Constable Brenton Walker said police specifically wished to speak to the owners of a black vehicle believed to be stationary near the scene of the collision.
A middle aged man and woman along with their child were taken by ambulance to the Ballarat Base Hospital in a stable condition.
EARLIER: All emergency services attended the scene of a crash between a Ford Sedan and a Holden SUV at the intersection of Darling and Adair streets about 2.20pm.
Neighbours at the scene told The Courier police were searching for at least one person involved in the crash, who fled the scene.
Fire crews were initially called to the crash amid reports one of the cars was on fire.
The Ford suffered extensive damage and has also collided with a power pole.
Nearby roads were blocked to traffic.
