The Bureau of Meteorology issued an update at 10.41am this morning, which states a cold front approaching from the west will cross the State today, entering western Victoria by late morning.
EARLIER | A severe weather warning for damaging winds is in place for several parts of the state, including Ballarat and Daylesford.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning about 5am on Friday, for people in parts of the Central, East Gippsland, South West, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland forecast districts.
Damaging winds averaging 50 to 60 kilometres an hour, with peak gusts of about 90km/h, will mainly affect areas about 600 metres elevation.
Potentially affected locations include Ballarat, Daylesford, Mt William, Kyneton and all alpine resorts.
The bureau expects the winds to ease over the west on Friday afternoon.
The State Emergency Service advises people to:
- move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
- secure or put away loose items around the house, yard and balcony; and
- keep clear of fallen power lines
The next warning will be issued by 5pm.
