Organiser and competitor Erin Beattie said she was excited to compete in her home town rodeo, to be held on February 11 at the Ballarat Polocrosse Grounds.
“It’s not the sort of thing you see every day. Ballarat is no longer a small country town and the rodeo is a good way to bring the country into the city,” she said.
The Ballarat Rodeo is one of few in the state to feature a junior program. “The kids are the future of the sport,” Ms Beattie says.
Five percent of the profits will be donated to beyondblue.
Gates open at the Ballarat Polocrosse Grounds, Airport Road, Mitchell Park, at 4pm and the rodeo starts at 6.30pm.
