Event manager Kesh Manton said the beat would be brought to the street through a range of free and public shows over the weekend.
“The free (section of the) festival brings fantastic music that you can’t help but dance to,” Ms Manton said.
“It helps you step back in time and brings a colour and feverish excitement to the streets of Ballarat.”
Geelong couple Janet and Warren Butcher made the trip down to watch The Lincolns perform.
“Everyone that comes buys petrol, spends money on food and accommodation. It’s a great event for a town,” Ms Butcher said.
“It’s great fun, you meet lots of nice people and make friends. And, it’s a chance to frock up.”
Highlights include The Elvis Show, the Hillbilly Hellcats and Ol’55.
“There’s a full program of live music, burlesque performances and pin-up competition where Ms Ballarat Beat – or Mr Ballarat Beat will be named,” Ms Manton said.
