Wimmera, South West and Central fire districts will face a total fire ban. Fire danger rating will be very high in South West and Central and severe in the Wimmera.
CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington said emergency services would be on standby to respond to any fire that starts.
“Grasslands again around the west of Melbourne are a concern for us as well as the entire western corner of the state,” he said.
“The grass is dry, so under conditions like those tomorrow, fast moving fires are possible. Although it’s not going to be super hot, wind tomorrow and the dry change means there’s potential for fires.”
Bureau of Meterology senior forecaster Chris Godfred said gusty winds of up to 60 km/h an hour would start at about 11am and would not ease until about 5pm. The temperature is expected to reach 29 degrees.
“The main drivers of the fire dangers rating (are) the wind – it will be quite gusty during late afternoon,” Mr Godfred said.
“(Authorities) are concerned about the grasslands which have become quite dry.”
