The Art Gallery of Ballarat is offering audiences the opportunity to enjoy some great musical performances this year with a diverse range of musicians and leading Australian musical acts performing in gallery spaces.

Public programs officer Peter Freund said that the gallery has become well-established as one of the best venues for chamber music and intimate music performances in Ballarat.

“Musicians love to play here, which puts us in a great position when negotiating to secure groups like the Grigoryan Brothers, Australian Chamber Orchestra or the Australian String Quartet,” said Mr Freund.

“It’s not just the great acoustics of our exhibition spaces that make them so special; it’s also the fact that people are making this amazing music surrounded by stunning artwork. Our reputation has brought some of the finest musicians in the country to perform here.”

The gallery will be offering diversity this year. It will include some of the country’s finest musicians in a variety of musical genres, from high end classical through to movie scores and Bob Dylan.

“We’ve really mixed it up this year, saidf Mr Freund.

“There are some really top-level classical performers, but also concerts with a broader appeal, or which combine genres or mediums.”

All concerts will be followed by supper and a chance to meet the artists.

Tickets are available for individual concerts, or as a subscription package, with discounts available when buying tickets for five concerts or more.
