All of the goodness which has come from the small plots at the Ballarat Community Garden will be on show this Sunday when the garden’s gates are opened for the annual Harvest Festival.
As well as an abundance of fresh produce, attendees will also get gardening tips for home from local experts while being entertained by musical acts such as the Funky Turtles and the Ballarat City Band.
Garden chairperson Sheilagh Kentish said the project not only provided Ballarat residents with an avenue to grow their own herbs, vegetables and flowers, but also allowed people to foster new relationships.
“Each one of the garden beds is just 4x3 metres but people grow a heap of stuff which they then give away and swap with each other and that creates a great sense of community,” Ms Kentish said.
The event kicks off at 11am before finishing at 3pm.
