Ron Maynard said he contacted Central Highlands Water about a Darling Street leak in mid-February, concerned about water wastage and potential infrastructure damage.
By the end of February little action had been taken, he claimed.
“They came and put a peg in but it hasn’t been repaired,” Mr Maynard said.
He said the leak, which appeared to be coming from the road verge, was leaking water 24 hours a day at a steady rate. He estimated more than a litre an hour was leaking, causing water to run across the road acting as a potential hazard.
Mr Maynard said he was “disappointed” at the authority’s “lack of action” and was concerned it could be causing infrastructure damage underneath the road.
“They expect residents to be water wise and save water – but they can’t repair this large leak,” Mr Maynard said.
On Monday CHW general manager of customer and communications Paul Clark told The Courier work would begin this week.
He attributed the repair delay to contractor scheduling.
“We will rectify the fault (which is to) a service line under the road to a property,” Mr Clark said.
“(Our contractors) will get in and repair the line – it is pretty simple.”
Mr Clark said CHW workers had completed “a couple” of investigations and had consequently scheduled works.
He said the works would not impact water supply or traffic.
