Field umpires Tom Lyon and Kellie McLeod and goal umpire Ken Mitchell will take their passion to new heights this season.
They join other former BFUA members Shane McInerney (AFL field), Michael Palm (AFL goal), Dan Phyland (VFL boundary) and Trent Bowes (VFL boundary) currently participating at an elite level.
BFUA senior field coach Roger Le Grand said McLeod has become the association’s first female to reach the VFL/TAC Cup level and hopes younger people will see umpiring as a pathway to reaching the AFL.
