An elderly Mount Pleasant man has been forced to spend the night in the Ballarat Base Hospital following a motor vehicle accident at his home last night.

Emergency services were called to the address near the corner of Cobden Street and Bond Street at about 5.50pm.
The 84-year-old man had been attempting to move his vehicle in the driveway of the Mount Pleasant property, however he lost control of the car, crashing into the back of the property’s garage.
Paramedics and multiple crews from the Country Fire Authority worked to extract the man who became trapped by the vehicle, eventually managing to free him.
Police were also on the scene of the incident.
He was then taken to the Ballarat Base Hospital with leg injuries, where he was expected to remain overnight.
The man was the only person involved in the incident and a police were due to conduct further interviews on Wednesday.
A portion of Bond Street was also blocked off to traffic for about an hour as emergency services conducted the rescue.
