A war memorial in Warrandyte has been vandalised with the words "war is murder" on the eve of Anzac Day.

The stone memorial was also spray-painted with red anarchist symbols.
Warrandyte RSL president Henk Van Der Helm said he was "utterly disgusted" by the vandalism.
He suspected the vandals struck overnight and said the RSL would desperately try to remove the graffiti in time for Tuesday's Anzac Day march, which will conclude at the stone memorial.
"I'm utterly disgusted, particularly this time of year. You come to accept this type of moronic behaviour," he said.
Mr Van Der Helm said the names of the fallen were inscribed in gold lettering on the memorial and he hoped they were not permanently damaged.
About 600 residents and local MPs are expected to take part in an Anzac Day march in the picturesque suburb in Melbourne's north-east.
It will include a service at the memorial, which stands in front of the Warrandyte RSL and has been there since at least 1930. The memorials was made out of local stone.
