A youth focused workshop on Saturday will give young people a taste of drama, while a workshop geared to adult amateur performers on Sunday while hone skills and provide tips for devising a show. 

Creswick Youth Drama Workshop organiser Tim Drylie said a council survey showing a desire for greater youth theatre presence in Hepburn inspired the workshops. 

“It will be a great way for young people to activate their own interest in theatre as Kerry Frampton teaches physical theatre skills and tips for devising shows,” he said. 

“Exploring theatre space is one of the fundamental things to begin with, looking at how you get outside of yourself and take on other expressions of character.

“Dislocation, finding your place in the community, is an issue for a lot of young people. These workshops will give them the opportunity to get involved, network and build confidence. 

“Drama workshops can help to give people a sense of themselves. I still remember the workshops I did when I was about 15 and being so inspired by it to continue in theatre. It was a life changing experience for me.

“It’as about finding a place for young people and trying to re-knit and re-engage people.” 

Lunch will be provided during the workshops.which are funded by Regional Arts Victoria and Hepburn Shire. 

Tickets are available for both the youth and adult drama workshops.
