The Lions out-gunned the inaccurate Kangaroos in almost every facet of the game to win by 63 points – 19.10 (124) to 7.19 (61).
Nathan Horbury put on a master class as a highly creative defender and midfield ball-magnet Dean Matthews was also impressive in a team which had winners across the board.
Redan set up the victory early and had the game well in hand by half-time when it led by 47 points.
East Point had its share of play and while it never loomed as a threat in the big picture, its number of scoring shots reflected that the margin could have been closer.
The Kangaroos did not have the class of Redan, which meant they were too often rushed, unable to stop the Lions’ run and lacked the system to open up a direct path to goal.
Dean Chester had a day out in front of goal with four as did Grant Bell (four) and Ben Schiltz (three), who with key forward Damien Horbury earned special mentions from coach Brendan Peace for their efforts.
REIGNING premier Bacchus Marsh bounced back from an opening loss to defeat Sunbury in a rematch of last year’s grand final – 16.12 (108) to 10.10 (70) n- at Bacchus Marsh.
While the final margin was comfortable, the Cobras were stretched by a Sunbury outfit which continues to surprise.
Bacchus Marsh responded to a low-scoring opening term with five majors in the second to lead a goalless Sunbury by 38 points.
However, the Lions bounced back hard with six goals of their own in the third quarter to be within 20 points.
Bacchus Marsh was to have the last say though.
Already with the last two majors of the third term,. the Cobras kicked the first four of the last to put the match away.
DARLEY remained unbeaten and kept Melton without a win in three outings at Melton.
The Devils took the honours 13.11 (89) to 8.11 (59).
Darley led by six goals at half-time – too much to make up even though Melton was much improied after the main break.
TWO Saturday night fixtures complete the round.
Ballarat meets North Ballarat City at Alfredton and Lake Wendouree is home to Sebastopol.
