While Lake Wendouree did not give Sebastopol a look in an 84-point win at Wendouree, it was Ballarat which provided the surprise of the round.in defeating North Ballarat City by 29 points at Alfredton.
These give Lake Wendouree two wins and the Swans a draw and win.
Ballarat coach Shane Hutchinson could not say enough for the efforts of his team in taking the match 13.16 (94) to 9.11 (65)
He said it was all about effort.
Hutchinson said as a young combination the Swans are going to have ups and downs.
“This was one of the good ones.”
The Swans threw everything at North Ballarat with an up-tempo approach.
While Hutchinson was at his his best in high possession-getting night, defenders Sam James and Scott Wood were major factors in blanketing key forwards Derrick Micallef and Will Young.
Tom Conroy kicked four goals, with Matthieu Brehaut getting three on debut and Nick O’Farrell also bagging three majors.
LAKE Wendouree was untroubled in winning 17.8 (120) to 4,12 (36).
Lakers took the game away from Sebastopol with five goals to nil.
By half-time they led by 55 points and the game was secure in a performance which feature 10 goalkickers.
