The government will start randomly drug-testing Australians applying for welfare payments as part of a host of welfare reforms in the 2017 federal budget that Treasurer Scott Morrison says will "stop people trying to take an easy ride on our welfare system", with those who fail tests having their welfare payments quarantined.
