Ingles said retiring was one of the hardest decisions she has had to make, but with her husband Joe likely to make a return to the NBA later this year the decision has been made to allow her to put their young family first.
“When I found out I was having twins, I didn’t know if I would ever play again,” Ingles told Netball Australia.
“I know a lot of mums will understand what that is like. I am so proud of everything I have been able to do to get back here this year.”
Ingles had been focused on her Suncorp Super Netball commitments throughout the early stages of the Sovereigns’ season but was expected to return in the second half of the year – that is now unclear.
Ingles played 160 national league matches and is a triple-premiership player. She represented Melbourne Phoenix, Melbourne Vixens and the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
