About 35 seniors sipped their brews and enjoyed savoury and sweet treats to help raise money for cancer research.
Sovereign Gardens Village manager Sharlene Turner said the seniors looked forward to coming together to share the morning tea, which the village chefs had home-baked from scratch.
“It’s so important because everybody no matter how old you are has been touched by cancer so it’s certainly giving back to the Cancer Council,” she said.
“And the social side of things is very important too.”
The residents met in the “heart and soul” of the village, the newly renovated community room, where they chipped in their gold coins to the Cancer Council to support research, prevention and support services for a cancer-free future.
The Sovereign Gardens morning tea was one of more than 24,000 across Australia being hosted for the cause during May and June.
